Engineering Artificial Small RNAs for Conditional Gene Silencing in Escherichia coli

Gene regulation using small molecules has always been an interest to me. In this article  Yokobayashi’s group was able to engineer artificial small RNAs to regulate E. coli gene regulation. They were able to construct an artificial sRNA library by fusing an antisense domain to a known sRNA scaffold. These artificial sRNA targets the 5’ UTR of the mRNA and inhibits gene expression.
