Chemical inhibition of RNA viruses reveals REDD 1 as a host defense factor
This article discusses the process of identifying a small molecule inhibitor of NS1, a viral protein known to inhibit host gene expression. Due to this discovery, the researchers were able to identify REDD1 as a new host defense factor. This is an important discovery because of the implications an antiviral drug could have in the field of medicine.
